| Description |
English: Abhainn Camas Fhionnairigh The river which enters the sea at Camas Fhionnairigh is a notorious obstacle for travellers along the coast of Skye. At high tide a detour is required upstream, and at the frequent times of heavy rainfall it is impassable. A bridge was built in the late 1960s as part of a misguided attempt to build a road/path through to Coruisk for rescue purposes. It lasted until about 1980 and was never replaced.
The south ridge of Bla Bheinn in the background is an easy way up the hill, until the gap between the south and north top is reached. This was my first Cuillin ascent, during my finals, between the last written paper and viva voce exam. It was memorable as I picked up a Boston MA radio station on FM, getting local lunchtime news and traffic in the early evening. How it happened is a mystery. |
