Summary

[edit]
Description

this is a rather large planetary nebula seen from a somewhat confusing perspective. I believe it's considered bipolar. it's one of the more popular targets in the abell catalogue (home of the famous [#//apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap121025.html medusa nebula]).

I'm surprised by how much cool stuff is on the ESO archive. there's a lot. this is a pretty deep image, which means we get to see some background galaxies. I guess that could be seen as an advantage of fainter nebulae.

I took some liberties with colour here and made some (probably shameful) adjustments. the chip gap was filled with cloned data.
