Sur l'un des minarets on peut voir un nid de cigogne abandonné : il n'y a plus de cigogne à Boukhara. Les pesticides et autres engrais chimiques utilisés pour la culture du coton ont si bien tués les insectes qu'il n'y a plus de grenouilles et autres insectivores. Les cigognes à leur tour n'ont donc plus rien à manger.
