English: Side view and building section plan of Abbey Mausoleum in Arlington County, Virginia, in the United States. The plans were drawn by the U.S. Navy Facilities Engineering Command.
Abbey Mausoleum was constructed between 1924 and 1927. It was once the most luxurious mausoleum in the entire District of Columbia metropolitan area. It fell into disuse when the U.S. Marine Corps' Henderson Hall expanded to encompass all the land around it, cutting it off from public access. It fell into disuse and disrepair. All the bodies were removed in December 2000 and January 2001, and it was demolished on February 5, 2001. |
