NORTH PORCH OF STA. MARIA MAGGIORE, BERGAMO. The wood-engravings in the present and following pages are byMr. Orlando Jewitt, who devotes himself almost exclusively toGothic Architecture and Ornament, in which he is pre-eminent. Heis one of the very few who continue to combine designing and drawing ARTISTS AND ENGRAVERS OF THE PRESENT DAY. 585* with engraving. The first specimen here presented is from StreetsBrick and Marble Architecture of Italy in the Middle Ages, 8vo., pub-lished by Mr. Murray in 1855.
