Ec-chymofes followed by Suppuration and Gan-grene, fometimes fpread themfelves uponthe Scrotum, and in mort, all the Incon-veniences and ill Symptoms which attendupon the Lateral Operation, except theHaemorrhage, are in a more violent Degree,incident to the old Way. An Incontinence of Urine, is not com-mon after the Lateral Operation, and aFiftula feldom or never the Confequence ofit; but the Prevention of a Fiftula feemsto depend very much upon the Skill ofdreffing the Wound afterwards -, and per-haps it would not fo often happen, if theDrerTmg were rightly managed in the oldWay, though certainly this Method ismuch more liable to them, as the Woundis made among Membranes, is more con-tufed, and in many, from an Incontinenceof Urine, is continually kept open.
