At the inferior andWidened extremity of the handle of the malleus, the ligamentous fibres ofthis bundle radiate towards the periphery, and partly unite with the fibres ofthe substantia propria. The middle fibrous layer consists of two separable lamellae, an externalradiating layer, and an internal circular layer.
