We were to sail at oneoclock, but did not get away until after three,consequently lunch was late, also, dinner.Here is hoping that after one or two voyagesthe novelty will wear off and things run moresmoothly. Several tugs, excursion boats, andyachts accompanied us down the bay and wepassengers derived considerable amusementfrom watching the lowering, by means of arope, of some belated visitors, among them arather stout woman, to the deck of a tug-boatthat was called alongside. He is a very agreeableman and speaks English quite well. In theafternoon, while leaning over the rail, I sawa large shark swimming away from the ship.It looked like the big sand sharks my boysused to catch in Vineyard Sound near Horse-shoe Shoal. Towards evening there weresome black clouds hovering about but, be-fore sunset they disappeared. One thingabout this ship I do not like is the arrange-ment of the windows in the state rooms onthe promenade deck. They are nice, big,square ones, but cant be opened.
