The menu was a plain one, but ittasted good after the long days ride. Wefed the Filipino woman and her boys, andthey ate ravenously and gurgled their satis-faction at the feast. As it was now gettingquite dark, the seuorita and Antonio retiredto the shack, and T andmy men, exceptthose on guard, rolled ourselves up in ourblankets and laid down on the ground, gladto rest, for we intended to be up and awayearly in the morning. As I went to sleep,visions of home, sweet home, Christmastrees, stockings hung by the mantel, andthe jingle of sleigh bells, all floated throughmy mind and I sighed at the thought, sofar away. In the morning we were up and on theway at six oclock.
