DescriptionA specimen of the botany of New Holland - p. vii.png |
This is a page from James Edward Smith's ''A specimen of the botany of New Holland, the first separately published book on the flora of Australia. The original work is in the public domain by virtue of its author having died a great many years ago. The scan is recent, but since this is a slavish copy of a two dimensional work, and since the scan was performed in the United States, it too is in the public domain. |

The official position taken by the Wikimedia Foundation is that "faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art are public domain".
This photographic reproduction is therefore also considered to be in the public domain in the United States. In other jurisdictions, re-use of this content may be restricted; see Reuse of PD-Art photographs for details. |
