Title
A small greyware rim fragment of a vessel dating to the Roman period.
Description
English: A small greyware rim fragment of a vessel dating to the Roman period. The fragment is sub-rectangular in plan, and slightly curved in profile. The form of the fragment indicates that it is likely to be from a jar. The rim is wide and overhangs the body of the fragment. The internal fabric is brownish-orange, while the outer fabric is light grey. There is a frequent amount of small inclusions. The object has a sandy smooth grey patina. Greyware is a common type of Roman pottery and was common during the 1st and 2nd centuries, but continued in use in some areas into the 4th century.
