Title
A small copper alloy unlooped palstave axe with a very short, flared blade 1500 to 1150BC.
Description
English: A small cast copper alloy unlooped palstave axe with a very short, flared blade dating from the Middle Bronze Age, i.e. c. 1500-1150BC. The axe is incomplete with some of the flanges, butt end and blade missing. The blade is crescentic and the axe is flanged with a small stop-ridge. It is probably related to the shield-pattern palstave from the ActonPark phase metalwork. It has a dull brown/gold patina. The length is 110m; blade width is 6.5cm and the shaft width 2.6cm.
