Matthew preached it with apicturesqueness all his own. His hand is on the shoulderof Samuel Cawley, of Shipley. Sammy, though diminu-tive in stature, was a preacher of no mean repute, having thegift with all the Yorkshire fire. Some will remember Jeremiah Halliday, of Bradford;John Landless, of Nelson ; and of a later decade ThomasFoulds and James Holt, the spiritual builders of ColneChurches. Then there are William Fazakerley, ofPendleton ; William Lyon, of South port ; and ThomasAdshead, of Stockport ; all preachers welcomed in theirday. Of those who figure in the 1902 group the majority areyoung men and those in the prime of life, representative ofthose who are now directing the affairs of our Churches.This promises well for the future.
