Title
A sherd of possibly Oxford Colour coat ware.
Description
English: The sherd is a body fragment of an unknown vessel. The sherd is possibly made of Oxford Colour Coat Ware, which looks very similar to Samian ware. The fabric is a mid orange colour, and is micaeous. The surfaces have a dark red colour slip which has striations visible on the larger surfaces, probably due to its application.

The decoration on the exterior surface is moulded and consists of a vertical beaded border and a horizontal linear lower border. Either side of the vertical border there are more detailed designs, which are unclear.

The sherd is slightly abraded. It weighs 7.78g.

Oxford Colour Coat Ware dates to c.240 until c.410 in Warwickshire. (Evans, pers com.)
