Summary
[edit]DescriptionA seal by the Lagan - geograph.org.uk - 1735626.jpg |
English: A seal by the Lagan. The Stranmillis Weir on the River Lagan in Belfast. Look closely and you might just be able to see a seal on the riverbank on the right-hand side, in front of the grey railings (apologies, I had no zoom lens - it is easier on the full size picture - see https://www.geograph.org.uk/reuse.php?id=1735626&download=c43c2820&size=original ). Seals on the Lagan are not uncommon but I have never seen one so far upstream. I wondered how a seal had managed to get above the weir but on the far side (hidden here - behind the grey railings and to the left of the weir in 1339498) there is a patch of water, probably the remains of the Lagan Navigation, & it looks possible to get upstream and onto the riverbank. The Google satellite image probably makes things a little clearer. |
