Português: "O vapor em que viajava o senador federal Antonio Azeredo e varrios officiaes do nosso Exercito foi duas vezes aprisionado pelos revolucionarios paraguayos, em Concepcion e Puerto Rosario. Graças, porém, ao protesto do senador Azeredo, devidamente secundado, pôde o vapor seguir viagem. — (Dos telegrammas)
Revolucionários paraguayos: — Em nombre de los sagrados derechos de la revolucion, intimamos los passageros e la tripulacion a abandonar el Xingú! Nós ostros precisamos de lo buque para metter a pique el coronel Jara, caramba!! Senador Azeredo: — Pois em nome do direito das gentes eu os intimo a respeitarem a liberdade de navegação e a soberania do Brazil! A voz de Zé Povo: — Por essas e outras é que ha 40 e tantos annos os paraguayos levaram uma surra que até hoje ficaram com o couro a arder!... Almirante Leão: — Eu mandei agora alguns navios para lá... General Dantas Barreto: — E eu dei ordens severas para que o Exercito secundasse a acção policiadora da marinha. Rio Branco: — Muito bem!
