A blight of the potato has been reported from anumber of localities, but it has been impossible to get materialfor examination that was of any value, or to get any informationconcerning the general apj^earance of the disease other thanthat the vines died. A small black beetle was the cause ofsome of the blighting.

See under Apple. Leaf Blight. The leaves are covered with reddish-brownspots; they finally turn yellow and drop off. Brown spots alsooccur on the fruits. The same disease occurs on the pear. Thefungus may be controlled to a large extent by spraying occasionallywith Bordeaux. RASPBERRY. Rust. See under Blackberry. Cane Blight. A blighting of the canes, which is causingconsiderable damage in New York State, has been collected atseveral places in this State. It was found first on the wild blackraspberry and later on the cultivated raspberry and rose. A lightcolored spot is formed on the canes, the branches and leaves abovethe spot wilting and then dying. Specimens and informationconcerning its distribution and the amount of damage done toraspberries throughout the State are solicited by the ExperimentStatio
