Two hours before opera-tion remove the abdominal dressing and paint theskin of the abdomen from costal border to sym-physis and flank to flank with tincture ofiodin, 5 per cent. Apply a fresh dressing ofsterile gauze and a sterile straight binder. Asthe time for operation approaches dress thepatient in sterile clothes, wrap in a sterile sheet,lift her upon the stretcher, and wheel to theoperating-room. The Major Operating Suite.—The majoroperating suite comprises the following rooms:operating-room, etherizing-room, sterilizing-room,supply-room, doctors dressing-room, scrubbing-room, and bath-room. The room is heated by two steam radiatorsplaced under the windows, and is lighted by elec-tricity: a four-branched electrolier is suspendedunder the skylight, three feet above the operatingtable. Two marble shelves are fastened to the wall atone end of the room.
