Description
English: The Department of Philosophy, Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh organized a round table on ‘Philosophy and the Media’ at the VIP lounge of the National Press Club, Dhaka at 3 pm on November 20, 2003 to mark the 2nd UNESCO Philosophy Day. Among others the roundtable was attended by Prof Jasim Uddin Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor of JU, notable journalists Mr Enayetullah Khan, Barrister Moinul Hossain and Mr Farhad Mazhar as guests of honour.

Earlier, the Department of Philosophy, Jahangirnagar University, chalked out three-week-long programs from 1 November, 2003 to 20 November, 2003 to celebrate the Day for the 2nd time in Bangladesh. As part of the programs, the Department of Philosophy, JU, held a colorful rally with banners, posters and festoons at 11 a.m. on November 5, 2003 on the JU campus. Led by Professor Dr Golam Dastagir, Chairman of the Department, the rally with the rhythm of band paraded through the campus. Later, the Department organized a seminar, open discussion, and debates on ‘Philosophy and Problems of the Present: Perspective Bangladesh.’

The Department also organized a colorful cultural function on the same day at the central auditorium of the University followed by a drama, ‘Nitya Purana’ (eternal myth), at the Muktamancha premises performed by professional artists of the country. Over three thousand people attended the functions.
