Title |
A profile and plan view of a Medieval thimble. |
||
Description |
English: The object is a double-skinned late Medieval thimble made from copper alloy. Holmes illustrates similar examples in figure 2. The shape of the thimble is that it has straight, but slightly tapering sides to a rounded top, however the top does have a slight point at the apex. The rim is sub-circular in plan. The rim also clearly shows the double skin of the thimble. The exterior of the rim is undecorated and has a linear groove above it.The thimble measures 25.1mm tall, 23.7mm wide and 21.2mm thick at the base. It weighs 13.31g. |
