Title |
a post medieval spindle whorl |
||
Description |
English: A cast lead spindle whorl of late medieval or early post medieval date, probably fifteenth or sixteenth century. It is plano convex with a prominent, flattened ridge running around the rim. Both sides are decorated with raised lines radiating from the central perforation, some, but not all of these are slightly curved; all have the appearance of being worn, whether as a result of use or of poor casting cannot be determined. The whorl is 32mm in diameter and 13.8mm thick. It weighs 62.07gm. |
