Title
a post medieval spindle whorl
Description
English: A cast lead spindle whorl of late medieval or early post medieval date, probably fifteenth or sixteenth century. It is bi-conical with steeply sloping upper and lower sides. Both sides are decorated; one side has seventeen closely spaced, prominent ridges radiating from the central perforation, the other also has radiating ridges, in this case creating triangular panels. Each of these panels contains a pair of angled ridges; the direction alternating left and right. There is a depression in the wall of the central perforation. The whorl is 32mm in diameter and 20.2mm thick. It weighs 66.64gm.
