Title
A post medieval lead alloy token dating to the 17th century.
Description
English: A post medieval lead alloy token dating to the 17th century. One side depicts three barrels, tuns or wool sacks arranged in a triangular formation with a central hammer. The other depicts the letters W and A with C above.

Lead tokens are difficult to date precisely and could be Medieval to Post Medieval in date (1250-1800 AD). The majority of lead tokens are thought to date to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, c. 1600-1800 as increasing numbers of dated tokens are found. This arrangement of letters is very similar to the trade tokens which date AD1648-1674.

A similar token is recorded on the PAS database please see LON-CA76D4.

Dimensions: diameter: 12.77mm; weight: 1.38g.
