Title
A post medieval copper alloy thimble dating to the 16th century.
Description
English: A post medieval copper alloy thimble dating to the 16th century. The thimble has straight sides with a separate dome at the peak. There are undecorated bands at the base and at just before the dome with a pattern of circular shaped pits spiralling from the lower band to the upper band. The circular pits also cover the dome. There is no evidence of a maker's mark and there is some dark grey discolouration across sections of the thimble.

No exact parallels can be found for this object. However, there are several thimbles on the PAS database that do not have domes and are too tall to be of the ring type ( NMS-7CC471 and HAMP-E75428)

Dimensions: Height: 23.71 mm; thickness: 0.58 mm; diameter at base: 15.77 mm; weight: 4.64g.
