Title
A post medieval copper alloy Portuguese coin dating 16th - 17th century
Description
English: A post medieval copper alloy Portuguese coin dating 16th - 17th century. The object has been pierced towards the edge. The obverse depicts the shield of Portugal - a shield with 5 smaller shields within it in a 1-3-1 formation from top to bottom - with an annulet above. The inscription is difficult to discern and all that is legible is [---]TC[---]N[---]P. The reverse depicts the letter "M" in the centre with the rest of the motif obscured by the perforation. The inscription reads S[---]N .

Due to the quality of the object it is difficult to date, though is likely from 16th-17th century.

Dimensions: diameter: 16.04 mm; weight: 0.68 g.
