Title
A possible impression in lead of a Post Medieval commemorative medal, dating to AD 1739.
Description
English: A possible impression in lead of a Post Medieval commemorative medal, dating to AD 1739. The object is roughly circular in shape with the impression on one side only. The image appears to depict a fleet of ships with a city or harbour in the distance. The is an inscription around the edge, which is difficult to discern. Beneath the scene appears the date NOV 22 1739 in retrograde, suggesting this is an impression rather than an unfinished or miscast medal. The object has a a mid grey patina with traces of white substance in the design.

An almost identical medal has been recorded on the PAS database (SWYOR-2ECA62) suggesting this impression is from the reverse of a medal commemorating the same event.

Dimensions: diameter: 40.17 mm; thickness: 2.87 mm; weight: 20.34g.
