Title
A possible early medieval pommel cap mount (5-6th Century AD).
Description
English: Early medieval? copper alloy mount, probably a sword pommel cap.

The object is triangular in section and sub triangular form, with slightly sagging upper edges. It has a ridge running its length and has a flat base which has pointed ends. It has a series of incised straight lines running from one edge to the other, over the central ridge. It has a centrally placed sub- circular depression in its upper surface, which is echoed by a circular depression its underside. This suggests it could be a hole which is now filled with a similar metal. Its shape and the possible filled hole suggest that the object is a pommel cap, although no parallels have been found for it yet.
