Summary
[edit]DescriptionA perfectly round island - geograph.org.uk - 794829.jpg |
English: A perfectly round island The tide is out and exceptionally low today; on the foreshore several perfectly round islands of sand are exposed, albeit for a short time only. The white chalk outcrop seen in the foreground is also only visible at low water. It is composed of calcium carbonate from the remains of microscopic marine organisms that once lived in a warm shallow sea which covered this area between 62 and 132 million years ago. Its upper few centimetres are composed of fragments of rocks.
