medicine and the bulb is pressed, then relaxed, itpartially fills; when the bulb is again pressed the medi-cine is forced out in jets through the small openings, asillustrated. No. IX is used to apply the remedies to theprostatic urethra and neck of the bladder; but as thegreatest trouble exists upon the floor of the urethra andwithin the ejaculatory and prostatic ducts, instrument No.VIII is used, as shown by reference to Fig. X. In the two conditions illustrated by plates VI. and XII.cataphoresis through the rectum and prostatic urethra, asshown by figures X. and XI., is especially indicated. In thelatter the medicine is introduced through the curved, cup-shaped opening at the lower extremity, and, by means ofa rubber-tipped syringe it is forced out through the open-ings at the other end, as indicated.
