Title
a medieval spindle whorl
Description
English: A crudely cast lead spindle whorl of uncertain date, but probably medieval, AD1100-1500. It is plano-convex, the lower surface being flatter than the upper surface. The lower surface is undecorated and, though there are some marks on the upper surface, it is likely that these are the result of damage whilst in the soil. The whorl is 26.4mm in diameter and 11.7mm thick. It weighs 38.44gm.
