Description |
English: A cast, lead alloy spindle whorl, dating from the medieval period, 1300-1500AD. It is bi-conical in shape, both upper and lower surfaces being decorated with a pattern of lines and dots. One side has nine panels with a dot in four of them; the other side also has nine panels, with a dot in each panel. There is a central, circular perforation which is 10.2mm in diameter. As is usual with these objects there is a hole in the side wall of the central perforation. The whorl is 27.6mm in diameter and 9.7mm thick. It weighs 30.75gm. |
