Title
a medieval sewing ring
Description
English: A damaged, cast copper alloy sewing ring probably dating from AD1350-1400. There is a single engraved line at top and base and a number of vertical rows of circular pits. These rows are not straight and do not always contain the same number of pits. The ring has a light green patina. It has split and, in its current damaged condition, it is 14.1mm high, 28.9mm long and 10.8mm thick. It weighs 2.79gm.

A similar sewing ring is illustrated in Egan, G., 2010, The Medieval Household, figure 206, number 816.
