Title
A medieval copper-alloy thimble, 14th or 15th century.
Description
English: A medieval copper-alloy thimble, probably dated to the 14th or 15th century. It is fairly short with slightly tapering sides and a slightly pointed tip. The thimble has numerous hand punched dots applied around the outside in a spiral pattern. The top is obscured. The original surface survives as a mid-green patina but is worn in places and a mid-brown. It measures 22.1mm in diameter and 19.4mm high. Thimbles of this date can be found in Bailey, G. 1995.
