a medieval beehive thimble
Description
English: A medieval, cast copper alloy, beehive thimble dating from AD1400-1500. There is a narrow rim with a central groove and a further groove separating the rim from the holes. The holes are quite small and arranged in vertical rows reaching to the crown of the thimble. The thimble is partially flattened and in its present condition is 24.5mm long, 15.9mm wide and 19.4mm high. It weighs 8.24gm.
