Upon this is placed a metal plate providedwith a binding screw, and the muslin is folded over so asto enclose the clay. This electrode has the disadvantagesof being troublesome to prepare, and of being cold to thepatient. Dr. Franklin Martin, of Chicago, makes use ofa nickel-plated concave plate covered with a membrane,and having an insulated rim to prevent contact betweenthe metal surface and the skin.
