uitable fora given patient is a difficult one to answer, for it hasbeen our experience that what is suitable for one is notfor another. The diet of these individuals should be the mostnutritious possible. Milk, either plain or peptonized, according to the patients taste, buttermilk, and kumyssare all easily digested and assimilated, and should forman important part of the patients diet. The patient should be warned in regard to the dis-position of his sputum. The local treatment depends upon the stage of in-volvement of the larynx. Tubercular infiltrations, ifsmall and not growing very rapidly, are best left alone. When large enough to produce dyspnea they should bethoroughly cocainized with a 20 per cent, solution of thisdrug, and after waiting five minutes a second applica-tion is to be made. A double curette, such as thatshown in Fig. 112, is to be introduced into the larynx, care being taken that in this procedure the blades arenot allowed to touch either the tongue, epiglottis, poste-rior wall of the pharynx, or ary-epiglottic folds, forfear of prod
