Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A major rock fall in the Braich area The area above the rockfall is one of 'bad' rock and over the years there have been both natural and man-made falls here. Fortunately, the worst natural falls have occurred at night time. As far back as 1889 a major blasting operation had to be undertaken one April Saturday afternoon after the rock face above Twllymwg Braich was seen to be progressively bulging during the previous week. Left alone, it would have eventually burst burying scores of workers working on the galleries below. The cost of the nitroglycerine and fuse used was £60-9s.
