Title |
A lead badge |
||
Description |
English: A lead object possibly a medieval pinhead. The object is flat and circular, with uneven lobes around its circumference. Both surfaces have cast decoration comprising a ribbed cross within a ribbed ring. The surround to the cross is partially openwork. The object has a diameter of 35mm and a thickness of 3mm.
If the interpretation as a pinhead is correct there would be a hole for the missing copper-alloy shaft within one of the arms of the cross. Such items were in fashion in the 11th/12th and again in the late 15th/early16th centuries. |
