A late Medieval – early Post Medieval gold mount in the shape of a Gothic letter “a” dating 15th – early 16th century.
Description
English: A medieval fitting in the shape of a Gothic letter, possibly the letter "a". On the reverse there are two studs; that were used to fix the letter to a leather or fabric strap.

The fitting is gold and dates from the fifteenth or early sixteenth century.

Dimensions: length 8 mm, width 6 mm.

Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
