Lettering Al signor Guglielmo Vyse cavaliere inglese amatore e seguace belle arti in atto di amicizia il cavaliere Gio Batta Piranesi D.D.D. Altra veduta laterale del vaso, che si vede nella Villa dell'Eccma Casa Lanti. Il monumento A. su' cui qui posa il sudetto vaso si vede in casa del sig. Collino Morison pittore, ed antiquario inglese ... Cavalier Piranesi delin. ed inc. Note Plate to: G.B. Piranesi, Vasi, candelabri, cippi, sarcofagi, tripodi, lucerne ed ornamenti, 1768-1778 Credits Dedicatee "Guglielmo Vyse": possibly Sir William Guise, 5th Baronet, of Elmore Court, Gloucestershire. He accompanied Edward Gibbon on their visit to Rome. His portrait was painted by Allan Ramsay in 1761 (A. Smart, Allan Ramsay, London 1999, no. 220; sold at Sotheby's, London, 2010(?))
