Judge Thomas Alonzo McGee, of Paris, )\Iissouri, is an example ofthat class of men, who growing up during Civil war days, received buta haphazard education, and found themselves upon the threshold ofyoung manhood with a devastated and ruined country before themand with only courage and empty hands to aid them in their fight forlife. The judge, however, did not come from a family that knew defeatand setting bravely to work he has succeeded in overcoming the handi-cap of poverty, lack of education and hard times. He is now widelyknown as a capable and successful business man, a competent judge anda cultured and respected citizen of Monroe county.
