Ash-burton, whose successors held it until 1865. Shortlyafterwards it was acquired by Edward Nourse Harvey,formerly lord of the manor. From him it passed in1894 to the Rev. William Frederic Berry, rector ofthe parish, from whom it was acquired in 1898 bythe Izard trustees, the present patrons. In 1262 Ralph, the rector, had a dispensation tohold an additional benefice, as Dibden was worthhardly more than ten marks.66 In 1291 the church was valued at £16 13/. 4^-,67and in 1535 the rectory was worth, beyond reprises,£5 12s. ii</.68 In the 14th century licence was granted to recon-secrate the churchyard of Dibden, which had beenpolluted by bloodshed.69 The school has accommodation for 100 children.
