The cork, cocoanut and almondtrees, with oleanders, bananas and jasmine, alllend beauty to the place. There are several business streets and a tram-line that makes the circuit of the town and runsto a large cigar factory several miles in thecountry. There is a county road that is hard-surfaced with coral. The lighthouse is a fixedlight, and stands in the town itself. The docksare the most interesting part of the place. Thechief commercial interest is cigar-making, over150,000,000 being the annual output. Thesponge industry is extensive. In these bedsfrom which the spongers gather their spoilgrow the best varieties for the market, and at thesponge auctions at Key West a million dollars*worth are sold annually. The Greek spongershave come in great numbers to Key West, andby their lawless methods have done great in-jury to the beds. They have camps also at theTampa
