During the Little Ice Age large magnitude volcanism was associated with extremes of solar activity

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: During the Little Ice Age climate-forcing or large magnitude volcanism was associated with grand solar minima and maxima and on entry into a grand solar minimum. Likewise, the 8.2 kiloyear rapid climate change event was associated with a deep grand solar minimum and a cluster of climate-forcing volcanic eruptions. Climate-forcing volcanism immediately impacts the climate because sulfate aerosols generated in the stratosphere reflect sunlight for 1-3 years (10 years for very large eruptions), thus cooling the planet. This magnitude of volcanic eruption is also implicated in an Arctic ice expansion mechanism, thus extending the climate-forcing impact to many decades or even more than a century duration.
