ery sparcely settled by whites, the most of these native negroes have drifted to thissection. The Government does not give them as muchconsideration as we have given our Indians; they give thema blanket each, every year, and a little food once a year, not enough to last them long; however, the weather iswarm, and they do not need much clothing, so they existwith very little assistance; their numbers are becoming lessevery year; they will not work. They haveno value, as their feathers are worthless; the Aborigines eattheir fiesh, but it is not considered fit to eat by whitepeople. The exports from this great continent are principallywool, frozen mutton, beef, wheat, gold, tin and copper.Their gold production last year was sixteen million poundssterling, making them the third largest gold producers inthe world, only Africa and the United States being aheadof them, and their gold produ
