Copper Smelting Plant, American Smelter Securities Company, Garfield, Utah. tion a plant for copper and lead production which is, according to arepresentative of the company, the most modern and best smeltingplant ever installed anywhere. The cost of the plant, which in-cludes a railroad seven miles long, has run into the millions of dol-lars. This plant is in competition with the American Smelter atGarfield and will draw on all the inter-mountain region for ores. A GLIMPSE O F UTAH page forty-one Utah treats practically all of her own ores and a vast tonnagefrom neighboring states, especially from Nevada, where discoveriesfollow fast upon each other and values of amazing richness areconstantly being disclosed. As the years go on and capital and invention combine to pro-duce bullion by more simple and economical methods, the miningof low-grade ores is facilitated, and rock that once was cast asidefor its poverty has now become the very corner-stone of Utahsmining industry.
