Of Inoculation for the Small Pox. 307 Skin of the Arm, and having inferted a fmall Particle of the purulent Mattertaken from a mild kind of the Pock, the little Wound is then to be dreffedwith fome dry Lint, and covered with a Plafter. After the Operation the Pa-tient muft conftantly keep to his Chamber, the Air of which mould be mode-rately warm, and his Diet regulated by fome prudent Phyfician, by^whichmeans the Diforder will fhew itfelf in about feven or eight Days, withoutany malignant Symptoms ; and, if afiifted by a proper Regimen and moderateWarmth, it ufually runs gently through its feveral Stages. When the Patienthas once had the Diforder this way, though ever fo mild, we are affured byExperience that they never have it again ; and therefore the Opinion of tholefeems to be well grounded v/ho think the Propagation of the Small Pox by In-oculation might be of general Ufe and Benefit to Mankind, in preferving theLives of fome, and the moft important Members of others,
