Title
A fragment from a cast copper alloy crotal bell, dating to the 18th/ 19th centuries.
Description
English: A broken fragment from the main body of a cast copper alloy crotal bell (43mm x 40mm; thickness: 1.5mm; weight: 23.13g). The central ridge running around the crotal bell can still be seen, as can scroll work decoration, particularly surviving on one side of the ridge, possible indicating that this was the bottom? Additionally, half a drilled hole is still visible just before the break. The artefact is in a fair condition and has significant areas of corrosion on the outer and inner surfaces. The bell has a light green/ brown patina.

As a result of the decoration and structure, this crotal bell fragment would probably date to the 18th/ 19th centuries.
