On the east and south bank of theriver is what was previous to incor-poration known as Xutana. This is asplendid building site, and with theopening of the traffic bridge, now wellforward to completion, manj^ of thecitys most handsome residenceswill be located there. From Nutanaheights one obtains a view that iscxircmely fascinating. The wholebusy business section lies stretchedwithin easy scope while harmony islent by the row of pretty residencesthat trace the curves of SpadinaCrescent. X^owhere does the Sas-katchewan look so majestic or sopicturesque as when seen from thehigh south bank. Four great bridgesresting on heavy concrete piers comewithin ones range of sieht. and eachhas to assume a widely different anglefrom the others, required by the wind-ings of the stream. The shortest ofthese bridges will measure one thous-and feet.

He then returned toOntario and came out the followingyear and selected land for his foursons. The rebellion breaking out thefollowing year prevented him goingon the land early, but the work oferecting buildings was commenced inJune. 1885. Hay was also put up forthe cattle, which were brought outfrom Ontario. The faniilj were mov-ed to the homestead the followingNovember Part of the necessaryimplements were brought up fromOntario and the remainder werebought at Moose Jaw, 160 miles to thesouthwest. About 1,000 bushels ofgrain were raised the first year and trip took two weeks. This includedtwo days stay at Moose Jaw. Cross-ing the Saskatc
