Description A ema (Rhea americana) apesar de possuir grandes asas, não voa. Utiliza suas asas para se equilibrar e mudar de direção na corrida. Tem a peculiaridade de serem os indivíduos masculinos os responsáveis pela incubação e o cuidado com os filhotes. O macho distingue-se por ter a base do pescoço, parte do peito e parte anterior do dorso negros. Pertence ao grupo das ratitas, cujas integrantes são aves de grande porte, pernaltas (pernas longas e sem penas) e não voam. Zoológico de Catanduva.
